🌄 Bukhansan Hiking Guide 2026 – Seoul’s Best Mountain Adventure 🥾
🏔️ Complete 2026 Hiking Guide to Bukhansan (Seoul) – Easy & Scenic Routes
Hi there! I’m Buddy, your local bestie in Seoul! 🙋♂️✨
Planning a hiking trip in Seoul? Forget crowded tourist traps! If you want fresh mountain air, epic city views, and authentic Korean nature, then Bukhansan National Park is your ultimate destination.
Yesterday, I explored the Eunpyeong area, and I’ve got the latest, most accurate tips for your 2026 adventure. Whether you’re a beginner or a pro, this guide has everything you need!
❓ Why Hike Bukhansan?
• The Highest Peak in Seoul: Reaching 836m (Baekundae Summit) for stunning panoramic views.
• Total Access: Just an hour away from central Seoul by subway and bus.
• Cultural Experience: Hike past ancient fortress walls and peaceful Buddhist temples.
🔹 Popular Starting Points (Choose Your Trail!)
💡 Buddy’s Choice: If you want a scenic, shaded walk with a mix of history, start from Jingwansa. It's right next to the Eunpyeong Hanok Village!
⏱ Estimated Hiking Time
• Jingwansa → Bibong Peak → Back: 3–4 hours (Scenic & Moderate)
• Bukhansanseong → Baekundae Summit → Back: 4–5 hours (Challenging but rewarding)
• Add an extra 30–60 minutes for photos! The views are too good to rush.
🥾 What to Bring (Super Important!)
1. Comfortable Hiking Shoes: The trails are very rocky. Sneaker are okay for easy trails, but boots are better!
2. 1–2 Liters of Water: You will get thirsty.
3. Food & Snacks: There are NO shops or kimbap sellers once you start the trail from Jingwansa. Buy your food before you arrive at the trailhead!
4. Phone with Naver Map: Google Maps can be glitchy on mountain trails.
🚕 How to Get There (The Fastest Way)
From Downtown (Myeongdong/Seoul Station):
1. Take Subway Line 3 (Orange Line) heading North.
2. Get off at Gupabal Station (구파발역), Exit 3.
3. To Jingwansa: Take Bus #7723 and get off at "Eunpyeong Hanok Village / Jinwansa" stop.
4. To Baekundae Summit: Take Bus #704 or #34 and get off at "Bukhansanseong Entrance" stop.
🍽 Post-Hike Food: The "K-Hiking" Tradition
You haven't finished your hike until you eat! Near the bus stops, look for restaurants serving:
• Pajeon (Korean Pancake): Crispy and savory.
• Dotori-muk (Acorn Jelly Salad): Light and spicy.
• Makgeolli (Rice Wine): The best reward for your legs! 🍶
🏠 Buddy’s Ultimate Tip: Don't go back to the city!
Why rush back to a noisy hotel? I recommend staying overnight at Eunpyeong Hanok Village right at the foot of the mountain. I stayed in a 2-story Hanok with Ondol (floor heating), and it was the perfect way to recover my tired muscles.
